Coming this Fall is an exciting new addition to the Design District’s growing restaurant scene. Tony Gallo and Pietro Vardeu, the team behind Sardinia Enoteca Ristorante, have announced plans to open a new regional Italian restaurant in the neighborhood in the former Egg & Dart space.

The restaurant will be named Campania, and will focus on the sun-kissed cuisine of the region that is home to Naples and the Amalfi Coast. The restaurant plans to embrace the spirit of Sardinia Enoteca, the popular Miami Beach dining destination that since 2006 has been offering diners authentic cuisine in a warm, unpretentious setting.

"For the past several summers at Sardinia, we have hosted a regional dinner series – featuring multi-course menus paired with wines that offer diners a taste of our favorite dishes from different parts of Italy.  Puglia and Campania have always been the most popular menus," offers Gallo.  "Sardinia’s success has convinced us that Miamians love authentic, rustic Italian and we think the timing is right – and the Design District presented great opportunity."

The restaurant’s menu will be overseen by Sardinia Enoteca’s Corporate Chef Pietro; however, the partners are bringing staff from Italy to man the kitchen.  At the restaurant, fresh mozzarella and breads will be made in-house daily along with a marketplace where guests can purchase mozzarella and other products to go. In addition, Campania will feature artisanal, made-to-order pizzas from a custom pizza oven, created to their specifications in Italy and shipped to Miami.

"It’s an exciting and busy time, but we are doing what we love;” says Pietro. “Making great, simple Italian food."
