She is a daughter, a sister, and a director at Dedar – the distinctly future-forward textile producer, founded in the tradition and heritage of a family business.  For the first time in 12 years, Caterina Fabrizio recently visited Miami where she laid the Italian brand’s plans in front of a curated audience of designers, partners and journalists at The Standard Hotel.  Stopping short of releasing the name of the next highly-anticipated design collaborator, Fabrizio echoed Paris’ Déco Off show in championing new color and an artisanal quality central to Dedar’s collections.

Nurturing creative design partnerships in an organic way that balances an ethnographic, aesthetic and technically-precise approach, one such notable collaboration with New York-based designer Stephen Burks (ReadyMadeProjects) attracted a hybridization of handcrafted methods and modern materials. Burks, who participated in the Wallpaper* Handmade best-of-show in the MDD during art fair week 2013, has also exhibited with the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and Studio Museum in Harlem.

Consistently harkening back to a process that transposes art and design, and technique and culture, Dedar is today working with some of the most compelling creatives.  As the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan approaches on April 8, the world of design will be watching.
